Last Year: The Nightmare is a 5v1 co-op horror survival game starring five teens in 1996.
Last Year: The Nightmare is the latest entry in the growing 5v1 genre where five players must work together to take down a player-controlled boss. After deciding which of the stereotypical heroes you want to play as, your next task is to pick a class.
As a survivor, gameplay will mostly involve hiding, hunting for scrap, and generally trying to outsmart the boss. Ideally, all five players will be relying on each other’s skills to maximise their chances of survival. The sixth player will be picking from three different enemies, and they’ll be able to move through the map undetected in Predator mode.
This allows the predator to set traps and survey the survivors’ plans. Like in Dead by Daylight and other games in the genre, the bosses are incredibly powerful but suffer from key limitations.
Last Year: The Nightmare also features a high-calibre voice cast, including The Walking Dead’s Melissa Hutchison (Clementine), Red Dead Redemption 2’s Noshir Dalal (Charles Smith), Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Elias Toufexis (Nikolaos) and more.
The game is coming to PC through Discord’s First on Discord program. It’ll be available on December 18 priced $30. A console version is also in development, due out in 2019.
